Peakery.com – A Review
We stumbled across Peakery just a couple of weeks ago, and we were instantly won over. The interface is clean, crisp, bright and is filled with images of mountain peaks the world over.

Rising 3,300 feet from the floor of the Eagle River Valley is Hiland Mountain, a craggy grainte beauty that seems to keep watch over the small town of Eagle River, Alaska. Nearly six years have passed since I first set my eyes upon Hiland Mountain, and I have spent countless hours studying her ridges and prominences.
Last week I enjoyed a sun-drenched hike to Hanging Valley, and on the return trip I started to eye the mountain peaks of Hiland, Gordon Lyon, and Rendezvous. This week I once again found myself at the familiar trailhead, but in much different weather. Where last week I was breaking a sweat in the 80 degree heat, today the weather had me wondering if I would need a jacket on the ridge line. A thick marine layer had moved into the valley during the early morning hours, using the cloud deck down to 2,500 feet or so.
Nestled in an alpine cirque near the Alaska mountain town of Eagle River lies Hanging Valley lake, and a last-minute decision to take advantage of excellent weather put me on the trail to Hanging Valley late Friday afternoon. I was determined to spend the night by the lake, and hopeful that I could capture a few good photos.
